Notre Dame Fighting Irish defensive end Kapron Lewis-Moore suffered a torn ACL on Monday night during the BCS Championship Game, and will be out an estimated four to six months. Lewis-Moore suffered the injury late in the first half of Notre Dame's 42-14 loss to Alabama, and will have surgery on his knee sometime within the next two weeks.

The senior defensive end and team captain suffered his knee injury against Alabama in the national title game, bringing a solid college career to an unfortunate end.


The 6’4, 306 lb senior finished 2012 with 40 tackles, six sacks, and 8.5 tackles for a loss, and also served as a team captain this past year. He finishes his career in South Bend with 12 sacks.
Lewis-Moore was an important part of a Notre Dame defense that finished the season among the leaders in almost every major defensive category. The Irish finished second in the nation in scoring defense (12.8 points/game), 11th in rushing defense (105.69 yards/game), 25th in pass defense (199.8 yards/game), and seventh in total defense (305.5 yards/game), and those numbers include what Alabama did in the title game.
