Clint Hurtt's days as a member of the Louisville Cardinals coaching staff may be numbered. Bruce Feldman of CBS Sports reported through a source that the NCAA has called Hurtt, and the organization will throw the book at the former Miami Hurricanes defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator for his alleged involvement in Nevin Shapiro's recruiting violations.

Former Miami and current Louisville assistant Clint Hurtt could face the brunt of the Nevin Shapiro allegations from the NCAA.

In the original Yahoo Sports filing by Charles Robinson, Shapiro named Hurtt in his discussions with federal agents for a host of various accusations. Shapiro said that he paid for dinners hosted by Hurtt, provided him with a $5,000 loan, brought three Miami recruits to Shapiro’s mansion to help the booster recruit players to the Hurricanes. Shapiro also reportedly paid for athletes at a Miami restaurant.
Mike Rutherford at Card Chronicle believed that the university might eventually have to part with their current assistant coach based on these allegations.
Like a lot of Cardinal fans, I’ve thought since this news first came out last August that U of L would eventually have to part ways with Hurtt. It was nice being able to ignore it, but it appears the time for dealing with this head on is finally here.
Louisville head coach Charlie Strong has backed Hurtt publicly before, but it looks as if it could be time to part with him. Hurt is in his third season at Louisville and is currently serving as associate head coach, defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator.
