Ronaiah Tuiasosopo interview: ‘Romantically in love’ with Manti Te’o

The Manti Te'o hoax saga continues has seen plenty of twists since Jan. 16, and it took another turn on Wednesday when talk show host Dr. Phil McGraw discussed some of his interview with Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, which is scheduled to air on Thursday and Friday. McGraw says he believes that Tuiasosopo had feelings for Manti Te'o, and asked him specifically about the nature of those feelings.
Tuisasosopo was apparently forthcoming, even as Dr. McGraw questioned what that means about his sexuality, as transcribed by Today News:
”Here we have a young man that fell deeply, romantically in love,’’ McGraw told NBC’s Mike Taibbi in a segment that aired on TODAY Wednesday. “I asked him straight up, ‘Was this a romantic relationship with you?’ And he says yes. I said, ‘Are you then therefore gay?’ And he said, ‘When you put it that way, yes.’ And then he caught himself and said, ‘I am confused.’’’
Te’o spent hours on the phone with the imaginary Lennay Kekua, and believed the person to be female. Tuiasosopo still insists that he was the voice of Kekua the whole time, and also was adamant in saying that Te’o did not know of hoax as it was happening.
It now appears that there was love on both sides of the phone as Te’o spoke with what he believed to be a young Stanford alum who was recovering from injuries sustained in a car wreck and battling leukemia. The story can’t possibly get any weirder, can it? It probably can.
