Chip Kelly on NFL interviews: ‘I’ll listen, and we’ll see’

Now that Oregon’s season is over, Chip Kelly wants to hear NFL offers and make a speedy decision about his coaching future.

With the last remaining distraction, also known as the Fiesta Bowl, over and done, Oregon Ducks head coach Chip Kelly said after his team's 35-17 victory over the Kansas State Wildcats on Thursday night that he will listen to potential coaching offers from around the NFL.

In a report from Zach Berman of Philly.com on Friday, Kelly said he plans on discussing potential suitors and offers with his agent, David Dunn. The list of suitors is rumored to include the Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills.

Kelly had declined to speak about his coaching future until this point, as the coach and his staff prepared for the Fiesta Bowl.

Here’s Kelly, from the report:

“I said I’ll always listen. And that’s what I’ll do,” Kelly said. “I know that people want to talk to me because of our players. The success of our football program has always been about our guys. It’s an honor for someone to say they’d want to talk to me about maybe moving on to go coach in the National Football League. But it’s because of what those guys do. I’ll listen, and we’ll see.”

Kelly also said that while he will hear out pitches from NFL teams, in any event he would like the entire process to be figured out rather rapidly, whatever the decision comes down to.

Over his four seasons coaching the Ducks, Kelly’s overall record is 46-7.
