Kapron Lewis-Moore injury: Notre Dame defensive co-captain hurts knee, will not return

Notre Dame Fighting Irish defensive end Kapron Lewis-Moore suffered a non-contact right leg injury near the end of the first half of the 2013 BCS title game. He has been ruled out for the rest of the game.

Update: The Irish defender is officially out for the game.

Notre Dame defensive end Kapron Lewis-Moore crumpled to the ground with just over a minute left in the first half of the 2012 BCS National Championship Game. The game has gone about as bad as it possibly can for the Fighting Irish, and it got even worse when their defensive co-captain came up lame on his right knee in what looked like a non-contact injury. Lewis-Moore had to be helped to the sidelines and seemed to have trouble putting weight on the injured leg. He has been ruled out for the second half.

Lewis-Moore piled on 39 tackles this season, 11th on the team. He was third on the team in tackles for loss with 8.5 and was third on the team in sacks with six. He also had nine quarterback hurries, broke up two passes and forced two fumbles.

After Lewis-Moore went out of the game, the Alabama Crimson Tide went onto score another touchdown on the hapless Notre Dame defense, and now lead 28-0 at halftime.
