Washington vs. Arizona State final score: Sun Devils cruise to big win, 53-24
Arizona State were less-than-friendly hosts Saturday night, taking down the ranked Huskies in a blowout.
Washington took an early lead on Bishop Sankey's one-yard touchdown run, but seven straight Arizona State scores made it 29-7 at halftime. Taylor Kelly was responsible for three of them -- he threw touchdowns to Marion Grice and Chris Coyle, and ran for a one-yard score.
The Huskies fought back early in the second half, when Keith Price threw a 70-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Smith, bringing them within 15 points. The Sun Devils responded immediately, as Kelly ran for his second one-yard score.
The two teams traded field goals, making it 39-17. The Sun Devils opened the fourth quarter with Marion Grice's one-yard touchdown run, but Washington bounced back with Price's 20-yard touchdown pass to Austin Seferian-Jenkins, making it 46-24.
Grice scored yet again, this time on a 14-yard touchdown run, clinching it at 53-24.
Box Score Hero: Marion Grice. The running back ran 21 times for 158 yards and two touchdowns while catching four passes for 37 yards and another score.
Rankings Ramifications: Washington was ranked No. 20 in the AP Poll and No. 25 in the Coaches’ and Harris Polls, while Arizona State received votes in all three. You can expect that to flip.
But Did They Cover? The Sun Devils were a three-point favorite, so yes.
