In a game that was over barely after it started, the Baylor Bears throttled the hapless Iowa State Cyclones in Waco, 71-7. Baylor racked up 461 yards in the first half en route to 714 yards on the day, and the Cyclones had just about no chance in this one.
Iowa State vs. Baylor 2013 final score: Baylor romps in easy victory
Baylor makes its case for a Top 10 spot in the polls with a complete demolition of Iowa State at Floyd Casey Stadium, 71-7.
It’s hard to believe, but Iowa State won this matchup last year in Ames — by double digits, no less, 35-21. These are different teams, though, and nowhere is the difference more evident than in Baylor’s defense, which held ISU to 174 yards on the entire day and has gone from giving up 37 points a game in 2012 to less than 16 per game this season.
Box Score Hero: QB Bryce Petty had yet another stellar day in limited action, throwing for 378 yards and two scores and adding a six-yard touchdown rush in the third quarter.
Rankings Ramifications: Baylor will be rocketing into the Top 10 this week after multiple losses above it in the polls. Its stats are getting too good to ignore, and it’s impossible to do better than 7-0.
But Did They Cover? Baylor took care of the 33-point spread before halftime.
