Utah vs. Arizona final score: Ka’Deem Carry powers the Wildcats past the Utes

Utah fell short of pulling off upsets in consecutive weeks.

Headlined by 236 rushing yards from Ka'Deem Carry, the Arizona Wildcats put on an impressive offensive display in Tucson on their way to a 35-24 win over the Utah Utes. Arizona and Utah were trading scores all game long, but the Wildcats pulled away late to pick up their first Pac-12 win in three tries.

Utah quarterback Travis Wilson left the game with an injury to his hand but wasn’t having his best performance prior to getting hurt. Wilson completed just three of his nine pass of attempts, two of which resulted in interceptions. Wilson’s most costly mistake was a pick-six caught and returned 14 yards for a touchdown by Arizona’s Marquis Flowers, putting the Wildcats ahead 14-7.

Utah would recover from that mistake and eventually take a 21-20 third quarter lead, but it was all Arizona from there. Ka’Deem Carry completely took over the game in the second half and his 44-yard touchdown with 1:30 remaining in the fourth quarter pushed the Wildcats’ lead to 35-24, effectively putting the game on ice.

Box Score Hero: Ka’Deem Carry ran the ball 40 times for 236 yards and was the Wildcats’ workhorse, allowing them to mask the occasionally mistake-prone play of quarterback B.J. Denker.

Rankings Ramifications: After upsetting Stanford last week, Utah received a fair amount of votes in both of the major polls. Arizona will likely take Utah’s place among the “others receiving votes.”

But Did They Cover? Arizona was favored by 3.5 points, so they outperformed expectations by about a touchdown.
