Oklahoma’s Trey Millard done for the year with torn ACL

OU’s big man goes down with a left leg injury after getting rolled up on.

Update: Bad news.

No. 15 Oklahoma is in a dogfight with No. 10 Texas Tech in Norman, and as the contest heads toward the endgame, the Sooners may have to try to preserve their win without a key senior.

Fullback Trey Millard suffered an apparent left leg injury at the end of a play as he was rolled up on by a host of players, and he was escorted to the locker room by trainers for further treatment. Here's a view of the injury:

Millard only had one rush and one reception on the day for a total of 20 yards from scrimmage, but his blocking is a valuable asset to the Sooner offense.

Few injuries are as capricious and unfair as the rollup, as significant leg injuries can occur without warning and without the blocker even knowing it’s coming until his leg crumples underneath him. That’s not to put anything resembling a diagnosis on Millard’s injury, of course—it’s hard to tell if it’s even his knee or ankle—but just a lament for the players that get felled like trees too often on the play.

Oklahoma leads by five points with seven minutes and change left.
