Stanford defensive end Ben Gardner left the game against Oregon State in the third quarter with a left arm injury. Gardner took off his pads and was seen on the sidelines wearing a parka instead, signifying that he was indeed done for the night.
Stanford DE Ben Gardner out with arm injury
The senior left the Oregon State game in the third with another injury to his left arm, which has given him trouble for weeks now.
This is the same arm that has been a repeated issue going back to the Washington game, where he was accused by some of faking an injury.
Ben Gardner is holding his left arm out, almost as if he is unable to move it. Told me this week that it just goes dead sometimes. #Stanford

It looks like Stanford DE Ben Gardner (arm injury) is done for the night. He is sitting alone on the bench without pads on. Not faking it.

Gardner is a huge loss for the Stanford front seven. A fifth year senior that was named to several award watch lists -- and the All Pac-12 second team last season -- Gardner had recorded 6.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks on the season, plus an additional eight quarterback hits. All three marks ranked top three among Stanford defenders.
Blake Leuders took his spot on defense. With Oregon coming to town in two weeks, one thing worth watching in that game will be Gardner’s availability -- and how Stanford performs without him, if he isn’t.
