Texas vs. TCU 2013 final score: Texas coasts to big 30-7 win over TCU

Texas continues its remarkable turnaround with a big conference road win.

Nature proved to be a more worth adversary to the Longhorns than TCU did on Saturday night, as Texas coasted to a comfortable 30-7 win that was delayed several hours due to lightning. The Longhorns remain undefeated in Big 12 play and can claim the conference title if they win out.

Even though the Horned Frogs did an adequate job slowing down Johnathan Gray and the Texas rushing attack (3.6 yards per carry), TCU’s own inability to move the ball by either air or ground proved costly. TCU moved the ball 70 yards and 43 yards on two possessions (the former ended in a touchdown, the latter in an interception) but otherwise failed to move the ball more than 21 yards on any single possession.

TCU’s lone touchdown came on a 38-yard wide receiver pass from Cameron Echols-Luper that shortened the Longhorns’ lead to 10-7 late in the first quarter. Case McCoy responded with a 65-yard strike to Marcus Johnson that proved to be all of the scoring that Texas would need to win with ease.

Box Score Hero: Marcus Johnson caught three passes for 120 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown grab that put the Longhorns up 17-7 just before the lightning delay.

Rankings Ramifications: Texas got a few votes in both polls last week but, with few upsets in the top 25 this week, the Longhorns probably didn’t do enough to crack either poll next week.

But Did They Cover? Texas was favored to win by just three points, so the Longhorns covered easily.
