Will Muschamp will return to Florida in 2014, according to report

The embattled head coach could very well return to the Gators in 2014 after a disastrous 2013 season.

Florida’s first-ever loss to an FCS school and first losing season since 1979 may not be enough to get head coach Will Muschamp fired, as Muschamp will return in 2014, according to the Orlando Sentinel’s Edgar Thompson and Mike Bianchi.

The Sentinel reports significant changes are expected to be made to the staff, but Muschamp will not be one of them.

Florida is 4-7 this season, with an expected blowout loss to Florida State looming. The Gators lost their most recent game to FCS program Georgia Southern -- a team that had injury issues of its own and was nowhere near its usual quality. Florida has lost six straight games, including five in SEC play. They sit in fifth place in the SEC East, with early wins over Tennessee, Kentucky and Arkansas bolstering their conference record.

Earlier in the month, Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley gave Muschamp the dreaded vote of confidence, saying he believed “one thousand percent” in the head coach.
