2013 Apple Cup final results: Keith Price rallies Huskies to 27-17 win

The Huskies appeared to be sleepwalking during the first half, but 17 unanswered points to start the second helped UW reclaim the Apple Cup title.

After losing in overtime last year, the Washington Huskies reclaimed the Apple Cup from Washington State with a 27-17 win on Friday afternoon. The win improves UW to 8-4 this season, while Wazzu remains bowl eligible for the first time since 2003 with a 6-6 record.

Washington State owned the first half, talking a 10-3 lead into the break. The Huskies dominated the second half, though, scoring 17 unanswered points to take a 20-10 lead late in the third quarter.

WSU had one final push left in the fourth quarter. Connor Halliday connected with Dom Williams on a 5-yard touchdown pass to cut the deficit to 20-17, and after forcing UW to punt, the Cougs got the ball once again with under six minutes to go. Holliday was intercepted by Gregory Ducre, though, and Keith Price later rushed into the end zone from five yards out to put the game on ice.

Box Score Hero:

Keith Price: 15-of-20, 181 yards, one TD, one INT; 14 carries, 23 yards, one TD

Bishop Sankey: 34 carries, 200 yards, one TD

Connor Halliday: 32-of-59, 282 yards, two TDs, two INTs

Rankings Ramifications: Neither team came in ranked, and while it was a nice win for Washington, it won’t be enough to get it back into the top 25.

But Did They Cover? UW came in as a 16.5-point favorite. The Huskies failed to cover the spread.
