Fresno State’s undefeated season is no more. On Friday afternoon, San Jose State fired on all cylinders and came away with a couple of key stops to pull the 62-52 upset.

Fresno State lost any chance it had at playing in a BCS bowl game this season following its loss to SJSU on Friday.
The first half was a blur. The score was 27-21 in Fresno State’s favor after the first quarter, and a 19-yard touchdown pass from David Fales to Chandler Jones with just 50 seconds left in the half gave the Spartans a 42-41 lead going into the break.
The second half belonged to San Jose State. The Spartans held one of the nation's most electric offenses to just three points until the closing minutes of the fourth quarter. Fales and the Spartans just kept coming in waves, though, with Thomas Tucker capping off their first drive of the half with a seven-yard touchdown run. After the teams exchanged field goals, Fales bullied his way through the goal line to push their lead to 59-44.
San Jose State pushed its lead all the way to 18 points before Fresno State finally found the end zone with two minutes to go. The Spartans recovered the onside kick, though, and the game was essentially over.

Rankings Ramifications: Fresno State came in ranked No. 16 in the BCS. The loss will probably knock them out of the top 25 altogether.
But Did They Cover? Fresno State came in as a 11-point favorite, so the Bulldogs obviously failed to cover the spread. They hit the over of 73 points with ease, with the Spartans nearly covering it by themselves.

Next Week’s Schedule: Even with the loss, Fresno State will still play in the Mountain West Conference Championship Game next week. SJSU’s regular season is finished, and the Spartans now wait to hear about their bowl fate.
