Western Kentucky OC Jeff Brohm to ‘likely’ interview for FAU job, report says

Former NFL quarterback and current Western Kentucky offensive coordinator Jeff Brohm could interview for Florida Atlantic’s vacant head coach position, via 247sports’s Luke Stampini.

Brohm played at Louisville in the early 1990s before an eight-year career as a professional quarterback, with his only playing time coming in a two-year stretch with the 49ers and a one-year stint in the XFL (as if there was any other kind of XFL stint).

He got his coaching career started with the Louisville Fire, an arena football team, before eight years with Louisville, including one as an offensive coordinator. Brohm also coached his younger brother, quarterback Brian Brohm, during his time there.

In 2009, Brohm was hired by Howard Schnellenberg, who was his college head coach, to be the quarterbacks coach at Florida Atlantic. After brief stints with Illinois and UAB, he ended up at Western Kentucky and old boss Bobby Petrino, helping lead the second-best passing attack in the Sun Belt conference.

The Owls won all four of their games after head coach Carl Pelini’s dismissal, becoming bowl eligible at 6-6. Brohm was not one of the names we brought up as possible replacement candidates.
