Tajh Boyd on almost playing for Ohio State: ‘I made the right choice’

The Clemson quarterback spurned the Buckeyes in the recruiting process in favor of the Tigers, and says he has no regrets.

Clemson and Ohio State play in this year’s Orange Bowl -- two teams that normally would not have any sort of linking connection or rivalry, but this year there’s a player that connects the two.

In 2009, Tajh Boyd was one of the most highly sought after prospects in the country, and after decommitting from West Virginia and Tennessee, was set to choose between Clemson, Ohio State and Oregon. Many predicted he would end up with the Buckeyes, but Boyd committed to the Tigers, where he has since set multiple school records.

Boyd was asked about the decision and his thought process heading into the game against Ohio State, and said he had no regrets or ill feelings.

Because he’s Tajh Boyd, he also had some fun things to say about the Buckeyes and his background.

Ohio State was looking for Boyd to fill a quarterback void in their 2009 recruiting class, and they ended up signing Kenny Guiton, who filled in ably for Braxton Miller (a 2011 signing) when the starter was hurt this season. Oregon expected Boyd to fall their way as well, but proximity and playing time ended up being key factors.
