Joe Paterno family releasing 180-page Freeh Report counter

The report, which rebuts many of the Freeh Report’s findings, will be released on Sunday morning on ESPN’s Outside The Lines.

The family of Joe Paterno will release their report regarding the Freeh Report on Sunday, according to the Centre Daily Times. The report will be released at 9 a.m. ET on Sunday morning on ESPN’s Outside The Lines. Sue Paterno, who recently wrote a letter to Penn State’s football lettermen explaining the family’s actions, recently interviewed with Katie Couric, and that interview will air the following Monday on ABC’s “Katie.”

The family announced that they would look into the report commissioned by Penn State, headed by former FBI director Louis Freeh, and it would appear that they’ve come up with roughly 180 pages of documentation in rebuttal.

The NCAA hit Penn State with some of the most drastic sanctions in the history of college athletics, using the Freeh Report as evidence. The university was fined $60 million, and the football program was docked scholarships, given a four-year bowl ban, and stripped of wins between 1998 and 2011. The state of Pennsylvania is currently suing the NCAA to get those sanctions overturned.

Paterno was fired in early November of 2011, shortly after Jerry Sandusky was indicted for sexually abusing children, and died a few months later from lung cancer.
