Alabama signee Reuben Foster comments on fugitive father’s arrest

After evading police for more than 16 years, the father of Alabama football commit Reuben Foster has been arrested in Florida.

USA TODAY Sports

After being on the run for more than 16 years, the biological father of recently signed Alabama football recruit Reuben Foster was arrested on Friday in Dania Beach, Fla., as reported by B.J. Millikan of CBS 42.

Danny Foster, Reuben’s father, shot his wife, Anita Berry-Page, and his son, Reuben, in 1995. Reuben, who was just 18 months old at the time, was wounded in his back. Danny Foster was indicted in 1996 but fled the state before being arrested in California. He escaped prison in 1996 and had been on the run ever since.

Foster commented in a post on Instagram:

I knew he was out there but his family had to be hiding him!! I ask about you daddy every time we was with your family but they said you was dead!! we look just alike finally seen.

Reuben Foster had mentioned previously to ESPN’s Kipp Adams that his father had shot him, but Adams was unaware that Foster’s father was on the run.

Foster was considered the No.1 inside linebacker recruit in the entire country and switched his commitment multiple times. Originally committed to Alabama, Foster switched to Auburn only to go back to the Tide on National Signing Day. Foster is famous for getting this large Auburn tattoo only to switch his commitment to Alabama.
