Pitt running back Rushel Shell is expected to transfer, according to multiple outlets, including finestpreps.com, a West Virginia quarterback and Gregg Giannotti of Pittsburgh's 93.7 FM. The former five-star recruit was first rumored to be on his way out of Pittsburgh on Wednesday morning after he didn't show up to Tuesday's spring practice.

Pitt could soon be left without its projected starter at running back.
The departure would be a blow to the Panthers. Shell was the second-leading rusher on the team last season behind departing senior Ray Graham, He was projected as the starting running back, with Pitt blog Cardiac Hill believing the only battle to be for the backup spot before this unforeseen circumstance. Isaac Bennett and Malcom Crockett are now in line for more carries than expected in 2013.
The rumor from here gets worse for Pitt fans. According to wild chatter, Shell could join Arizona State’s Todd Graham, the coach who originally recruited him at Pitt. The Sun Devils were run-heavy out of a spread attack in 2012 and had four different players top 100 carries. Shell would likely be in the mix for plenty of opportunities when he becomes eligible in 2014, were he to become a Sun Devil.
