Notre Dame, Florida State football playing in 2014, according to report

Notre Dame’s agreement with the ACC is starting to have its impact on the football schedule.

Al Messerschmidt

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will visit the Florida State Seminoles in 2014, according to WarChant.com. The arrangement could presumably be part of Notre Dame's new agreement with the ACC, in which the Irish will play every conference school at least once in three years. Notre Dame is expected to play five ACC schools each season starting in 2014.

The Irish still have plenty of rescheduling to do if they are to meet that five-school quota, having dropped Arizona State just days ago. The addition of Florida State gives Notre Dame three ACC schools on the schedule in 2014, along with Syracuse and Pittsburgh. There haven’t been many specifics as to how Notre Dame plans to fit in all those ACC games, but other current agreements will surely have to be broken to fit them.

Notre Dame and Florida State last met in the 2012 Champs Sports Bowl. The Irish held a 14-0 third-quarter lead in that game before the Seminoles scored the final 18 points, including 15 in the fourth quarter, to steal a victory.
