Rutgers AD Julie Hermann linked to sexual discrimination suit at Louisville

New athletic director Julie Hermann is averaging a scandal a week at her new job after news broke that she was involved with a sex discrimination suit while at Louisville.

New Rutgers athletic director Julie Hermann has been connected with a sexual discrimination lawsuit when she was at Louisville, according to the New York Times. Hermann, who was hired less than two weeks ago, was alleged to have fired a female assistant track and field coach in 2008 after she complained of discriminatory treatment from the head coach.

This is actually the second bombshell to be dropped on Hermann since she took the Rutgers job. After she was announced by the school, several of her former volleyball players at Tennessee came forward to say Hermann was verbally abusive to players back in the 1990s.

It’s all a very bad look for the university, who thought they were putting scandals behind them. The school parted ways with head basketball coach Mike Rice and athletic director Tim Pernetti after a tape was discovered of Rice being physically and verbally abusive to his players. The tape cost Pernetti his job as well after he only suspended the coach after viewing it, rather than firing him. Rice was eventually fired after a public outcry, which then led to Pernetti’s dismissal.
