Former Houston Cougar running back Charles Sims will be suiting up for West Virginia in 2013, according to a report from the Houston Chronicle's Joseph Duarte and others. Sims announced that he was leaving Houston on May 22, but it was unclear whether he would pursue a transfer or go into the NFL through the supplemental draft.

The former Cougars yardage machine will transfer and play for the Mountaineers in 2013, where he could come in and compete for carries right away.

Sims put up 851 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in only nine games for the Cougars in 2012, averaging six yards per carry. He also caught 37 balls for 373 yards and three touchdowns, so he can be productive in the passing game as well. He’s averaged 1,357 yards from scrimmage per year in his three-year career.
In those nine games, Sims more or less equalled WVU’s leading rusher from last year, junior Andrew Buie, who had 850 yards in 13 games. Still, there are plenty of touches to go around in Dana Holgorsen’s offense, as the returning numbers show.
Sims already graduated from Houston, so he is eligible to play right away when he gets to Morgantown. There was some thought that since he already had his degree, Sims could attempt to get into the NFL via the supplemental draft, but the pros will have to wait another year for the potential first-round pick. He also considered transferring to Cal, according to reports.
