UCLA vs. Nebraska 2013 results: Huskers fans worried after big loss

The Nebraska faithful are concerned after a big loss to UCLA in Lincoln.

Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports

No. 16 UCLA prevailed over No. 23 Nebraska 41-21 Saturday in one of two games between ranked teams on the weekend.

The Huskers jumped out to a 21-3 lead on the strength of three Taylor Martinez touchdown passes, and looked in good position at halftime with a 21-10 advantage. Brett Hundley and the Bruins woke up in the second half, however, finishing the game with over 500 total yards of offense and 38 unanswered points in the victory.

It was a big win for UCLA, who now have about a month to prepare for back-to-back games against Stanford and Oregon. Bruins Nation talked about the importance of this game for the program.

In a very emotional game, the Bruins were playing for Nick Pasquale while Nebraska was playing with last year's loss in mind. In the 2nd half, the Bruins came in firing, as the offense hit its stride while the D shut down the offense by limiting Taylor Martinez's running lanes.

In summary, with both teams playing with emotions running high, the Bruins overcame a pensive 1st-half to come back in a huge way during the 2nd-half, pulling out the 41-21 victory in Lincoln.

Paul Dalen at Corn Nation took a great look at how Nebraska’s defense compares to the disastrous 2007 season, and it does not spell good news for the Cornhuskers.

Parallels to 2007

The 2013 Huskers performance has started out with alarming parallels to 2007, which does not bode well for the rest of the season or for the future of the current coaching staff.
