Saturday’s college football schedule: Game times, TV coverage for Week 5 games

We tell you what to watch and where to watch it for Saturday’s busy college football slate.

Chris Graythen

After a straightforward Week 4 devoid of upsets or much excitement, college football returns in earnest with a fun slate of Week 5 games for your viewing pleasure.

Early afternoon

12 p.m. ET

No. 11 Oklahoma State @ West Virginia - ESPN

No. 12 South Carolina @ UCF - ABC

No. 15 Miami (FL) @ South Florida - ESPNU

Northern Illinois @ Purdue - ESPN2

SMU @ TCU - FOX Sports 1

Miami (OH) @ Illinois - Big Ten Network

12:21 p.m. ET

South Alabama @ Tennessee - ESPN3, SEC Network, MSG

12:30 p.m. ET

East Carolina @ North Carolina - ESPN3, ACC Network

Virginia @ Pittsburgh - ESPN3, ROOT-P, CSN-DC, NESN, FSN

2 p.m. ET

Navy @ Western Kentucky - ESPNews

Illinois State @ Missouri State - Mediacom

2:30 p.m. ET

Akron @ Bowling Green - ESPN3

Which to watch: No. 12 South Carolina @ UCF. The Golden Knights have looked impressive in their 3-0 start, with blowout wins over Akron and FIU strengthened by a road victory over Penn State, and they get to host South Carolina in Orlando in what could be a close contest. Plus, UCF has players named Blake Bortles and Storm Johnson.

Late afternoon

3 p.m. ET

Troy @ Duke - ESPN3

Colorado @ Oregon State - Pac-12 Network

Toledo @ Ball State - ESPN3

Eastern Washington @ Sam Houston State - CSN

North Dakota State @ South Dakota State - Midco SN, NBC North Dakota

3:30 p.m. ET

Wake Forest @ 3 Clemson - ESPNU

6 LSU @ 9 Georgia - CBS

8 Florida State @ Boston College - ABC/ESPN2

14 Oklahoma @ 22 Notre Dame - NBC

Iowa @ Minnesota - ABC/ESPN2

Central Michigan @ NC State - ESPN3

UConn @ Buffalo - ESPN3

UTEP @ Colorado State - CBS Sports Network

4 p.m. ET

Army @ Louisiana Tech - FOX Sports 1

Houston @ UTSA - FSN, MSG+, ROOT-RM

Maine @ Richmond - CSN

5 p.m. ET

Temple @ Idaho - Altitude

Which to watch: 6 LSU @ 9 Georgia. There are plenty of good matchups going on in the late afternoon slate, but it’s hard to miss Georgia’s third top-10 matchup of the early season. Meanwhile, the Tigers have not had much difficulty with their early schedule, and Georgia is the first of four ranked SEC opponents they play this year.

Early evening

6:30 p.m. ET

21 Ole Miss @ 1 Alabama - ESPN

7 p.m. ET

10 Texas A&M @ Arkansas - ESPN2

Arizona @ 16 Washington - FOX

20 Florida @ Kentucky - ESPNU

Wyoming @ Texas State - Longhorn Network

FAU @ Rice - FCS

James Madison @ Delaware - CSN

Jackson State @ Southern - Cox Sports

Tulane @ Louisiana-Monroe - ESPN3

Kent State @ Western Michigan - ESPN3

7:30 p.m. ET

UAB @ Vanderbilt - FSN, ESPN3

San Diego State @ New Mexico State - ESPN3, ALT, FS-SD, AZ+

8:05 p.m. ET

Air Force @ Nevada - CBS Sports Network

8:08 p.m. ET

UNLV @ New Mexico - ROOT Sports

Which to watch: 21 Ole Miss @ Alabama. It’s entirely possible the Tide are blowing out the Rebels by the time the Badgers and Buckeyes kick off -- in that case, switch on over there. Both games should be big tests for title contenders, as well as chances for fringe conference contenders to make a big statement.

Late evening

9 p.m. ET

Montana @ Northern Arizona - ROOT

10 p.m. ET

5 Stanford @ Washington State - ESPN

10:15 p.m. ET

Southern Mississippi @ Boise State - ESPNU

10:30 p.m. ET

USC @ Arizona State - ESPN2

Cal @ 2 Oregon - Pac-12 Network

11:59 p.m. ET

25 Fresno State @ Hawaii - Oceanic PPV

Which to watch: No. 5 Stanford @ Washington State. The Cal/Oregon game will certainly have more offensive fireworks, but Stanford could have a test against a very good Cougar team that beat USC on the road earlier this year and has already tied their win total from 2012.
