LSU running back Jeremy Hill, who was suspended for the Tigers’ season-opening win over TCU, will be allowed to play Saturday night against UAB, according to Scott Rabalais of the Baton Rouge Advocate.

Hill won’t be the starter against the Blazers, per Rabalais, and it’s unclear exactly where he will fall on the depth chart. He dressed out but did not play against the Horned Frogs last Saturday due to an arrest during the offseason. The 6’2, 235-pound sophomore was involved in a fight outside a bar on April 27, which could have been ruled as a probation violation. Hill was previously arrested in 2011 and placed on probation in January 2012.
However, Louisiana District Judge Bonnie Jackson decided that the April arrest was not a violation and that Hill would not have to serve jail time. LSU head coach Les Miles put the running back’s status up to a player vote, and after receiving the approval of his teammates, Hill was reinstated to the team.
Before the incident, Hill was projected to be the Tigers' starting running back in 2013. Alfred Blue earned the start against TCU, and even without Hill, LSU's rushing attack was just fine. The team picked up 197 yards on the ground in a 37-27 victory. Terrence Magee was the top back against the Frogs, and he ran the ball 13 times for 95 yards and two scores.
Hill was the Tigers’ leading rushing last season, compiling 755 yards and 12 touchdowns on 142 carries in 10 games.
