Casey Pachall injury: TCU QB to miss time after arm surgery

TCU’s senior signal-caller will miss next week’s Texas Tech game and is “doubtful” for the next game.

TCU lost quarterback Casey Pachall to a left arm injury late in the second quarter of the TCU Horned Frogs ' 38-17 victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday. Although the exact nature of the injury has yet to be revealed, as first reported by Frogs O' War, Pachall has undergone surgery for the injury, and is expected to miss several weeks.

CBSSports.com’s Bruce Feldman added this:

Patterson didn’t mention the surgery in post-game interviews, but he did promise (his words) that Pachall would not play against Texas Tech. Just about any injury that requires same-day surgery is a pretty safe bet to cost multiple weeks of rehab, even if it’s his non-throwing arm. Specifics on the injury and a timetable should be forthcoming.

In the meantime, last year's starter Trevone Boykin is back at QB while Pachall is out. Boykin had started most of TCU's games last season as Pachall was missing time while in substance abuse rehab, so this role is nothing new for him. He was effective in relief as well, so TCU shouldn't drop off much while Pachall recovers from this latest setback.
