Arkansas jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead over Georgia on Saturday before giving up 38 straight to the Dawgs before halftime, eventually falling 45-32. The Razorbacks made it look a bit better in the second half, but they never really got within striking distance.
Georgia vs. Arkansas final score: 3 things we learned from the Dawgs’ 45-32 win
The SEC West has its first out-of-division blemish.

The Dawgs were still without Todd Gurley, who is still suspended for autograph nonsense, but Nick Chubb filled in admirably, going for 212 yards and two touchdowns. Hutson Mason chipped in with two touchdowns in the air, but it was the defense that really set them up for the win. They turned Arkansas over four times and converted them into 21 points, including a 54 yard fumble return by Dominick Sanders.
It wasn’t so much that Georgia’s offense was so great. The onus for this loss falls on the Hogs themselves, as they turned the ball over four times to practically give the Dawgs the game on a silver platter. They were never really able to get the running game going they way they like (3.4 yards per carry), and the offense just doesn’t work when they have to rely on the pass.
Three things we learned
1. Sitting pretty in the SEC East. It’s not so much that Georgia has that much of a better record than their division rivals. They don’t. It’s that they’re the only team in the SEC East that looks even remotely competent. The Dawgs should be able to waltz to a division title without much of an issue. If they somehow don’t end up in Atlanta, they’ll have no one to blame but themselves.
2. Arkansas is still looking for that conference win. The Razorbacks have now dropped 16 straight games in the SEC. They’ve looked considerably more lively over recent weeks, and it was reasonable to think they could’ve bagged the Bulldogs today. However, it clearly didn’t play out like that, and the wait rolls on for another week. The Hogs host UAB on Oct. 25th, and then travel to Starkville to face top-ranked Mississippi State on Nov. 1st.
3. The SEC West’s undefeated streak vs. everyone else is at an end. The SEC West was 26-0 after last weekend vs. every other team in the country that wasn’t in the SEC West. The Hogs are the first team to lose to a non-SEC West team. Such shame.
