Cal trailed UCLA, 36-34. The Golden Bears were driving. Cal’s Jared Goff tossed the ball up towards the end zone, and UCLA’s Marcus Rios hauled in an over-the-shoulder, juggling catch on the sideline, an apparent interception that would essentially end the game.
UCLA-Cal ref announces game-deciding call with broken mic
The most #Pac12Refs moment of all time.

But did he catch it? Was he out of bounds? Did he have control? After a review, let’s ask a Pac-12 referee:
Yes, the game-deciding call -- a tough, tough call to make, on a play that after multiple reviews could really have gone either way -- was announced to absolutely nobody. None of the fans in Cal’s stadium knew the ruling until UCLA started their kneeldowns. Cal’s coaches didn’t seem to know. Matt Millen read the ref’s lips, so those of us at home (who trusted Millen’s lipreading ability) got the ruling, but not much more.
And, oh yeah, Pac-12 refs.
Yeah, we got jobbed. But when you put your game in the hands of Pac-12 refs, you’re gonna have a bad time.
