At halftime, No. 25 Louisville leads No. 2 Florida State, 21-7. And that’s actually a good score for FSU, considering. Had the Cardinals punched in a goal-line score on their first drive, and had tight end Nick O’Leary not pounced on a fumble for that lone Seminoles touchdown, it could’ve been 28-0 at the break.
Louisville has No. 2 Florida State on dire upset alert
If you’ve watched the last 10 or so FSU games, then you’ve seen things like this before. The Noles have faced tough circumstances against Auburn, Clemson, NC State, and Notre Dame, but that 21-0 deficit in the second quarter was the most they’ve trailed by in the entire, two-year Jameis Winston era.
Winston has thrown two picks against a tough UofL defense, a defense whose early performance Thursday night is no surprise at all. What has been surprising is the Cardinals offense, which has been the weaker unit this year, but which has 294 yards so far, 95 of them by running back Michael Dyer.
FSU gets the ball to start the second, and two straight touchdowns would turn this into a game well within Winston’s range. But two straight touchdowns against this defense isn’t something that’s happened all that often as of late.
