No. 3 Florida State played an unranked opponent and snuck out with a victory. What else did you expect at this point? The Seminoles struggled with another power-running team, eventually winning on a late Roberto Aguayo field goal en route to a 20-17 victory.
Boston College vs. Florida State final score: 3 things we learned from the Seminoles’ 20-17 victory
Another week, another thoroughly mediocre Florida State performance.
Florida State took an early lead on Karlos Williams’ three-yard touchdown run, and Boston College eventually tied it 10-10 in the middle of the second quarter on Tyler Murphy’s 49-yard touchdown pass to Shakim Phillips. Florida State took the lead back right before the half on Jameis Winston’s 30-yard scoring toss to Nick O’Leary.
Boston College tied it back up at the start of the third on Tyler Murphy’s 21-yard touchdown run. The Seminoles missed an opportunity to take the lead back when Aguayo missed a field goal attempt in Tallahassee for the first time in his career. He was able to redeem himself late in the fourth, nailing the 26-yarder to win the game.

Three things we learned
1. Florida State will have trouble with Georgia Tech. You think Boston College and NC State have running games? Try the Yellow Jackets, who will probably give the Seminoles fits with their triple option in the ACC Championship Game in two weeks.
BC's 240 team rushing yards are the most by an ACC opponent vs. FSU since 2009 (Georgia Tech).
— Chip Patterson (@Chip_Patterson) November 22, 2014 2. Next week vs. Florida could more interesting than you might expect. Don Brown’s defense did a good job mixing their pressures and bringing heat on Winston and the Florida State offense, but Florida’s defense is even better ... and they’ve been running the ball pretty well, too. The Seminoles will be without talented linebacker Matthew Thomas for the first half of that one, and anything’s possible in Will Muschamp’s last game at Florida.
3. No, Florida State isn’t falling out of the playoff places. Yes, it’s another fairly unimpressive win against an unranked opponent, but unless Mississippi State knocks the socks off of Vanderbilt (a plausible outcome), Florida State will stick at No. 3. It’s hard to bump the Seminoles out of the playoff without a loss on their resume, but they’re doing their darndest to try.
