Arizona needed a win over Utah in order to stay in the Pac-12 South title race, and will fly home with an emphatic 42-10 drubbing to their credit. Nick Wilson ran all over the Utes to the tune of 218 yards and three touchdowns, and what was once looking like a tight game late in the third quarter turned into a laugher late.
Arizona vs. Utah final score: 3 things we learned from the Wildcats’ 42-10 drubbing
The Wildcats went to Salt Lake City and made a statement against the Utes.
It wasn't all good news for the Wildcats, though. Freshman quarterback Anu Solomon was pulled from the game early in the second half, as he appeared to aggrevate an ankle issue. Jesse Scroggins came in and did fine in relief, but Arizona will want Solomon for their big game against Arizona State next Saturday.
Utah kept it close for a while, but four turnovers and sloppy execution did them in. Devontae Booker had a nice day on the ground for them, rushing for 142 yards on 23 carries, but that was essentially the lone bight spot for the Utes.
Three things we learned
1. Wildcats still alive for the Pac-12 South title. Five teams still had a shot to win the Pac-12 South coming into Saturday, but that number is now down to four after the Wildcats snuffed out the Utes’ slim chances. Arizona can win the division title with a win over Arizona State next Saturday, but they also need UCLA to beat USC later today and then to lose to Stanford next week.
2. Nick Wilson is a legitimate weapon. With the passing game grounded somewhat by the weather conditions and shuffling quarterbacks, the true freshman picked up all of the slack and more for the Wildcat offense. He popped off for 218 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries, including this 75 yard run to make it 28-10 at the beginning of the fourth quarter:

3. Anu Solomon's status for the Territorial Cup. Well, we didn't learn it today, but we will have to wait to see whether Solomon will be available for the Wildcats against Arizona State. Solomon was pulled in favor of Jesse Scroggins in the third quarter, and he was in a walking boot shortly thereafter. He's been dealing with an ankle issue, but it remains to be seen whether this is going to keep him out for their regular season finale.
