It’s a rivalry where the teams can’t even agree on the number of times they have played, a rivalry enshrined in two fight songs on one side and an impromptu edit of the other team’s song on the other. It’s Clean, Old Fashioned Hate, and it’s renewed for either the 107th (or 109th) time when No. 16 Georgia Tech travels to No. 9 Georgia Saturday. Kickoff is set for noon ET at Sanford Stadium, with television coverage on the SEC Network.
How to watch Georgia Tech vs. Georgia: Game guide, TV/streaming, odds
It’s Clean, Old Fashioned Hate. Here’s how to watch it.
Georgia Tech and Georgia first played football in 1893, with the Bulldogs holding an all-time series lead of 64-39-5. Georgia actually claims that Georgia Tech wins in 1943 and 1944 during World War II do not count, though the Bulldogs have no issue with recording a win during their 1942 national championship season. Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt has gone 12-1 against Georgia Tech in his 13 seasons as head coach, and Georgia Tech has won just four games against their in-state rivals since 1991.

The numbers
Rankings and records: It’s been a banner year in the Georgia-Georgia Tech rivalry. The Bulldogs enter Saturday at 9-2 and ranked No. 9 in the College Football Playoff poll. Georgia Tech is also 9-2 and ranked No. 16. The Yellow Jackets have already wrapped up a spot in the ACC Championship game, while Georgia could get into the SEC title game with a loss by Missouri.
Vegas: Georgia is a 12.5-point favorite, with the over/under at 66, per Odds Shark.
Weather forecast: Clear skies, light winds, and temperatures in the mid-50s.
Two things at stake
You mean, besides bragging rights in a rivalry where each fan base openly wishes that the other goes to hell when singing its fight song?
Both Georgia and Georgia Tech are perennially fighting for recruits and respect in the Peach State, and Saturday’s game sets the tone for the rest of the year.
One big matchup
Georgia Tech's option offense vs. Georgia's front seven: Ever since Paul Johnson arrived in Atlanta, Tech has made a living on forcing opponents to prepare for a precise, exacting triple option offense in a week. The results this year: Georgia Tech is averaging more than 325 yards on the ground per game, fourth nationally. Georgia has the athleticism to hang with anyone, but defending the triple option puts a premium on discipline over raw ability. Richt has not had any problem with it in the past, but this is probably the best Georgia Tech team since the 2009 ACC Champion.
