Watch the 2014 Bahamas Bowl: Western Kentucky vs. Central Michigan game time, TV schedule, live online streaming

Will the country’s top passer throw all over the Chippewas?

The Bahamas Bowl is a new addition to the college football postseason slate, pitting a Conference USA team against a MAC foe. Western Kentucky will square off versus Central Michigan early Wednesday afternoon, as two building programs look for a signature postseason victory.

Central Michigan’s players were very excited to find out they’d be traveling to the Bahamas, and now they have an opportunity to take down a talented Hilltoppers squad. The Chippewas went 7-5 this season, finishing fourth in the MAC West, and recorded multiple-possession victories against Purdue, Ohio and Northern Illinois. Central Michigan has secured a winning season no matter the result, and this will be the second such year out of the last three seasons under head coach Dan Enos.

After losing another head coach after one year, Western Kentucky broke in new head coach Jeff Brohm to the tune of a 7-5 record and a third-place finish in the C-USA East. The Hilltoppers opened the season with a dominating victory over what was expected to be a strong Bowling Green team, but followed that up with losses to Middle Tennessee State and Illinois. They also recorded victories over Navy and Marshall, ending the latter’s undefeated year in the last week of the regular season.

Two things at stake

A victory for Central Michigan would give them their first eight-win season since Butch Jones left.

Western Kentucky has never won a bowl game in their program’s history.

One big matchup

Brandon Doughty vs. Central Michigan secondary. The nation’s leading passer, Doughty passed for 4,344 yards this season, with 44 touchdowns against 10 interceptions. He was at his best against top opposition: against Bowling Green, Middle Tennessee State and Marshall, Doughty averaged 551.0 passing yards per game, with 18 touchdowns in the three games. The Chippewas’ defense has picked off 12 passes against 20 touchdowns this season, allowing over 10 yards per attempt just twice.
