PSU kicker uses Derek Jeter’s locker, nails walkoff kick

Use Derek Jeter’s locker, kick game-winners.

The Pinstripe Bowl between Penn State and Boston College was held at Yankee Stadium, which led to some players temporarily taking over the lockers of Yankee players. Penn State senior kicker Sam Ficken used Derek Jeter's locker and, fittingly enough, Ficken delivered a walk-off extra point to win the game. In the fourth quarter he had nailed a 45-yard field goal with 20 seconds left to send it to overtime.

Penn State and others celebrated appropriately.

The game-winner capped an impressive turn in Ficken’s career. He struggled early after being thrust into action as a sophomore. However, he got progressively better and had a solid senior season.

Of course, you can’t use Derek Jeter’s locker and come through in the clutch unless you are a captain. But have no fear; Ficken has been a PSU co-captain all season.
