Bob Stoops mocks Nick Saban’s Sugar Bowl ‘excuse’

Big Game Bob has had enough of this SEC rhetoric ... again.

Nick Saban has made several media appearances as of late, and in between getting troll looks from Steve Spurrier, he had the opportunity to reflect on last season, particularly the surprising loss to Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl. He’s now referred to the Sugar Bowl loss as a motivation problem several times:

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops responded in earnest Wednesday, since this is media season, after all. Via ESPN:

They didn’t look like it was a consolation game on that first drive, when they scored a touchdown and everyone thought they were going to rout us.

I’ve been in plenty of those [bowl games]. We’ve played in a bunch of national championship games, right?

That’s a good one.

So that means I’ve got a built-in excuse the next time we don’t play for a national championship?

And the Sooners had even more fun rubbing that loss in:

Oklahoma’s previous bowl opponent also caught some feisty Stoops:

This makes at least the third time Stoops has called out the SEC in the last year or so.
