Changes may be coming for Georgia’s football coaching staff, but they won’t be on Thursday.
Mark Richt shoots down rumors of Georgia firing defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt
Jeremy Pruitt’s job is safe. For now!

Bulldog fans woke up to a chorus of rumors suggesting the Bulldogs had fired defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, with some serious allegations to boot.
680 in Atlanta reporting Pruitt could already be out. And that there may have been physical altercations. Yikes.
— Corey Clark/TDO.com (@Corey_Clark) November 5, 2015 That news followed reports from earlier in the week that suggested that Georgia was going to make significant changes to the coaching staff after a disappointing 5-3 start.
Head coach Mark Richt took to Twitter to address the rumors.
Just so everyone knows, Jeremy Pruitt is our defensive coordinator and is in the office working diligently getting ready for Kentucky!
— Mark Richt (@MarkRicht) November 5, 2015 Questions still remain over whether or not Pruitt, and Richt himself, will still have jobs in Athens when the 2015 season is over. Recent reports suggested Richt was feeling some heat from UGA’s boosters after the team couldn’t hold its ground as a top-25 program. An embarrassing 27-3 loss to Florida has only added volume to the coaching search rumors for a Bulldog program that began the season with national title aspirations.
Pruitt, in particular, has rubbed some powerful UGA alumni the wrong way with his personality on the sidelines. That includes NCAA and NFL legend Fran Tarkenton.
I think he has come over and been very boisterous, been very loud. I think he’s taken advantage of things over there. He personally has hired four of the assistant coaches over there including the weight guy. I’m not a great fan of Jeremy Pruitt. That has not been a good, workable solution.
Even if the Bulldogs did fire their defensive architect, it would not address the fact that the Bulldogs have scored just nine points in their last two games and rank 63rd in the country in scoring offense. Pruitt's defense, by comparison, is rated 28th among FBS teams in points allowed. Losing All-American tailback Nick Chubb has certainly contributed to Richt's offensive woes, but it's clear that Georgia's problems may take more than a few administrative reforms to fix.
