Remember on Halloween, when Chris Fowler brought some zombies into the booth during Notre Dame-Temple and Kirk Herbstreit yelped in high-pitched terror? The scare debt has finally been paid.
Jimmy Kimmel helped one ESPN announcer get prank revenge on another
Good morning! It’s the Read Option. Here’s a bunch of college football stuff.

Two days after an incident in which he fell 15 feet out of the window of an Atlanta hotel room and was found “covered in blood” by a 911 caller, Ole Miss defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche issued an apology before denying reports of synthetic marijuana use.
You have discovered the calendar. The Pac-12 schedule for 2016 was released Tuesday, kicking off with Cal playing Hawaii in Australia and ending with the 88th meeting between USC and Notre Dame.
Radar jammer yellow hammer. Alabama (1) does not police its own football games, and (2) isn’t paying Tuscaloosa for using its cops, despite the massive revenue from those games. The first part isn’t unusual among football programs. The second is.
Like a Bosa. With defensive tackle Adolphus Washington out for the Fiesta Bowl, Ohio State could move Joey Bosa to the interior.
Where-cats? Cincinnati quarterback Gunner Kiel has left the team during preparations for the Hawaii Bowl and might not play against San Diego State. Backup Hayden Moore was effective in Kiel’s place, so there might not be much change.
Bear facts. Cal got back to winning this season, but how did fans react to that 7-5 record?
Definitely the biggest story in Madison today. Wisconsin halfback Corey Clement, who missed much of the season with a groin injury, will return for his senior season.
Crootin’:
- Last year, Oregon brought in Eastern Washington quarterback Vernon Adams as a graduate transfer. This season, the Ducks are headed back to the FCS well, having received the commitment of Montana State quarterback Dakota Prukop Tuesday.
- Top quarterback recruit Jacob Eason is holding firm to his commitment to Georgia, turning away advances from Florida. (The Gators’ star DB isn’t worried about it.)
- South Carolina won the day, as far as new commits from high schoolers go, with two of the day’s three highest-rated.
- Oklahoma is honing in on a trio of four-star recruits, including receiver Velus Jones, defensive tackle Chris Daniels and linebacker Elysee Mbem-Bosse.
Red Raided. Just two offensive assistants are left on the Texas Tech staff after outside receivers/special teams coach Darrin Chiaverini left Lubbock to join the staff at Colorado.
Star Weauxrs. With a new Star Wars movie on the way, our LSU site asks if we can learn anything about Les Miles by observing George Lucas.
Copycows. Texas can look at conference-mates Oklahoma and TCU to see how to return its offense to respectability. Now it has the coaching (and quarterback?) personnel to do it.
The Age of Addazio. Boston College didn’t win much this season, but it wasn’t because of its defense. How did the Eagles shut teams down despite an offense that couldn’t stay on the field? Ian Boyd investigates.
Bets are fun. The North Carolina governor, having lost a bet on the UNC-Clemson ACC Championship Game, hung a Clemson flag above his desk (with a subtle message to the refs).
Don’t overreact to bowl results! Or do. Bill Connelly and Steven Godfrey offer the warning:
