Jim Harbaugh loves Darth Vader, the relentless ‘jackhammer’ of Star Wars

“That’s my guy, that’s my boy.”

Michigan’s head coach took in this new Star Wars fad all the kid are talking about this weekend.

That last bit proved to be a bit of a sticking point for Michigan’s head coach, per an interview with WXYZ-TV in Detroit:

“I was impressed, this was a good Star Wars,” he said. “But (without Darth Vader), not quite the same. I thought they would have found some way to get him back in there. He had a good run. They had the one shot of the new ... I don’t want to give anything away.”

Harbaugh just has to stick with his guys, and you have to respect that.

So what is it about Vader? The helmet? The breathing? The general foreboding presence? Using the Force to choke an insubordinate underling from across the room?

“I love Darth Vader. He’s just relentless, he’s a jackhammer. James Earl Jones, the voice of God. You would be disappointed if God did not have a better or equal voice to James Earl Jones.”

That’s Michigan Man James Earl Jones, in fact. Jones graduated the Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance in 1955.

No word on whether we’ll see a winged Vader helmet on the sidelines next season, but Harbaugh has almost certainly tried to use the Force to choke somebody. That somebody was probably Urban Meyer.
