On Christmas Eve morning, 25 years ago today, we put out the cookies and wine and I dutifully jumped into the backseat of our car, when I realized that I had forgotten my hat. I went back into the house to get my hat, and it was then that I found my mom drinking the glass of wine.
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of this emotionally scarring moment, Cincinnati coach Tommy Tuberville looked at his playcard and called the ‘football embodiment of the swift destruction of a child’s Christmas belief system’ play.

In actuality, the play is one that Les Miles has run at LSU in the past. It just so happened that San Diego State put a defender exactly where the Bearcats’ kicker was going to run, and Cincinnati somehow forgot to block him.
San Diego State converted Cincinnati’s disastrous fake into another touchdown, and leads the Hawaii Bowl, 28-0.
