Oklahoma RB Samaje Perine left Playoff semifinal with apparent leg injury

Update: Perine returned a few drives later.

The second half has started badly for Oklahoma, and it just got worse as they lost star running back Samaje Perine with an apparent left leg injury. About five minutes into the third quarter, Perine went down and appeared to be in a lot of pain, and wasn't able to put weight on his leg.

He was attended to for a minute on the field before being helped off by training staff. There’s no word yet on his status for the rest of the game.

Perine is the Sooners' leading rusher with 44 yards on 11 carries, and it would be a huge loss for the Sooners if he can't come back in. Joe Mixon will get the majority of the carries in his absence. Oklahoma trails Clemson 23-17, and was sputtering on offense even before Perine left the game.
