Is Hollywood out of ideas? It’s tough to say, but either way, we’re reportedly getting a new version of Coach, according to Entertainment Weekly. Former lead Craig T. Nelson is on-board, and that’s a good thing because you’re not bringing in the eyeballs without Coach Hayden Fox.
3 things to know to get caught up on ‘Coach’
The 90s are back.

The show went off the air in 1997, so you may have forgotten a few things over the past 18 years. Here’s three things you need to know to ready yourself for this show’s glorious return.
The premise
It appears that this won’t be a remake of the original show, but will center around a long-retired Coach Fox coming back as an assistant to his son, who is the coach of “an Ivy League program in Pennsylvania.” Never mind that this clearly isn’t canon and his son wouldn’t be old enough to be the head coach of a college program.
Hayden Fox’s career path
Nelson coached the Minnesota State Screaming Eagles for the majority of the show’s run. It was never disclosed whether they played in a conference, but it was the 90s and independence was still sort of cool if you had a prestige program like Minnesota State.
After eventually winning a national championship, Fox left to coach the NFL’s Orlando Breakers, which is a fun name considering Orlando is not on a coastline. The final game of his career was apparently a loss to the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round, cementing this show’s immense 90s bonafides.
Dauber won two Super Bowls
That’s it. Mike “Dauber” Dybinski took over the Breakers and won a pair of Super Bowls. Life is truly amazing.
