Rules, they are a changin’: The Big 12 and ACC have proposed legislation that would change NCAA rules on how conferences can determine their champions. For the 10-team Big 12, the obvious goal is holding a championship game without expanding. For the ACC, some sort of three-division conference format, perhaps like this one?

SURF TURF IS REAL. Coastal Carolina actually went through with this.
Where does Shane Ray fit in the NFL? The ex-Missouri defensive lineman had the ability to take over a game in college, but former NFL defensive end Stephen White says he carries some risk. Ray might not have the athleticism to play outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme, according to White, and unless he puts on some weight, he’s too small to play inside on the line. However, White thinks Ray will be an early draft pick thanks to his skills as a pure pass rusher.
Dante Fowler is pretty sure he’ll be a Jaguar. The former Florida defensive end said he “would be stunned” if Jacksonville passed on him in the 2015 NFL Draft. Fowler had a private meeting with the Jags Tuesday evening, and he would make sense for the team at the No. 3 overall pick.
TEAM OF THE DAY: Head coach Norm Chow is fighting for survival at Hawaii, and just eight wins in three years as the Rainbow Warriors’ head coach has Chow firmly on the hot seat. But Bill Connelly says the team is improved, and if it can get through a tough early stretch, Hawaii might pile up some wins later in the year.

CROOTIN’:
- Oklahoma picked up a commitment from four-star 2016 QB Austin Kendall. Kendall was previously a Tennessee commit, and the Sooners fought off Auburn for his services.
- With the commitment of running back Kingston Davis, Michigan has a “really good running back right out of SEC country.”
- FSU has passed Miami for the No. 1 spot in the 2016 recruiting rankings. Here’s how the Hurricanes can get back on top.
- Four-star running back is a “Charlie Strong football player,” whatever that means.
SPRING BALL:
- Texas head coach Charlie Strong says quarterbacks Jerrod Heard and Tyrone Swoops are sharing first-team reps.
- Penn State has to find a way to replace starting safety Adrian Amos.
- Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee is pleased with the quarterback competition so far, but he wants to see more from Jeremy Johnson and Sean White.
Agents hard at work: NFL teams are showing interest in Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher, according to Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher.
