Only coach to face Memphis *and* Tennessee says Tigers might be ‘best team in state’

Hmmm that’s certainly an eye-opening opinion.

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Bowling Green has played two teams from Tennessee — Memphis and Tennessee — tough this year, but coach Dino Babers’ pick for the best team in that state might be surprising.

Dino Babers: “I’m not sure Memphis isn’t the best team in their state. They’re good.”

Toledo Blade: “Did you play other teams in their state?”

Dino Babers: “(Laughs) I’m not sure. Did we?”

Tennessee is everyone’s favorite dark horse pick this year, but after struggling against Bowling Green and losing at home to Oklahoma, maybe Babers has a point? If only these two could meet in a bowl game.
