Louisville star QB Lamar Jackson got angry during the second quarter of the Cardinals’ game at Clemson Saturday night, apparently because a Tigers linebacker executed a tackle that, in essence, choked him.

This doesn’t look good at all.

Tigers linebacker Ben Boulware (No. 10 in orange) put a legitimate MMA fighting move on Jackson, and ESPN sideline reporter Tom Rinaldi said on the ABC broadcast that Jackson was telling an official he’d had his neck grabbed. The network’s cameras caught Jackson in an enraged-looking state. There was no penalty called on the play.
“I was just trying to pull him down,” Boulware said after the game, via ESPN’s David Hale. “If he thought it was a dirty play, I definitely apologize. I was just trying to get him down.”
The choke hold came deep in Clemson territory, and Louisville shortly afterward stalled out and had to settle for a field goal. Clemson got the ball back and scored a touchdown with just five seconds left in the first half, which couldn’t have cheered Jackson up at all.
