During UNLV’s game against Fresno late Saturday (or, well after midnight on the East Coast), a mystical fountain appeared on one of the sidelines at Sam Boyd Stadium.
In extremely Las Vegas fashion, a huge water fountain opened up on the UNLV sideline
The Rebels paid tribute to their city in the most moist way possible.

Look at this beauty.

Here’s video from The Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Elaine M. Wilson, who says workers for broadcaster CBS went to adjust some wiring and let the hydration loose.

It’s weird that people view Las Vegas as a city of gambling and other adult debauchery, because that’s not what Las Vegas is at all. (I went there when I was a small child, many years ago.) No, that’s not right.
At heart, Vegas is a city of fountains.
Here is the Bellagio:
I choose to believe this was a deliberate tribute to the Rebels’ home town.
We’ll take submissions if there are any others, but this is the first instance I can recall of an impromptu fountain opening up at a Mountain West football game.
