Cincinnati scored one of the most clever trick-play TDs of the season

The Bearcats set a trap, and Tulsa walked right into it.

Cincinnati quarterback Hayden Moore scored a rather unorthodox touchdown for the Bearcats in the first quarter of Friday’s matchup against Tulsa.

The Bearcats’ offensive line deliberately hit the deck, falling to the ground all at once, as Moore tossed a lateral to tight end Tyler Cogswell.

The linemen got up, and when Tulsa’s defenders left them, they set up a screen for the QB on the other side of the field. Moore got the ball back from Cogswell and followed his offensive line to the end zone for an easy touchdown. Tulsa’s defensive line fell for the trap, chasing the ball. When Moore scampered in for the 29-yard score to give Cincinnati a 14-0 lead, it looked really easy.

Cincinnati entered Saturday’s game having lost four straight and with a 4-7 record, but plays like this show that not all of the Bearcats’ season is worth forgetting.

(h/t Deadspin for tracking this play down.)
