On the field, Baylor’s 2016 has been one of two halves. A 6-0 start was, as many Baylor starts have been lately, simply a mirage. Life came at the Bears fast in the form of much more talented competition as the team for into the meat of conference play.
2016 Cactus Bowl final score: Baylor rides WR KD Cannon to win over Boise State
Bears stop the slide with a postseason win.

The Bears finished the regular season off on an 0-6 run, but earned a Cactus Bowl berth against Boise State and made the most of it, crushing the Broncos, 31-12.
In what may be his last game in a Baylor uniform, WR KD Cannon absolutely went off. He set Baylor bowl records with 14 catches and 226 receiving yards. By the early stages of the second quarter, Cannon’s stat line looked like this.
His two touchdowns looked real nice.
During Cannon’s second score, head coach Matt Rhule was actually on the mic doing an interview with ESPN’s Rece Davis. He jokes about needing to re-recruit Cannon to return to school as the talented WR strolled into the end zone. A nod to how tough the rebuild process will be for Rhule at the helm. The team’s 2017 recruiting class only has one player verbally committed.
The Broncos finish the season 10-3, with two losses in a row. The team’s two regular season losses came by a combined nine points, and the Group of 5 berth in a New Year’s Six bowl was oh so close. 2016 Boise State will always wonder what would happen if they weren’t in this bowl game. At least Cannon wouldn’t have been on the opposite sideline.
