2016 Orange Bowl odds: Michigan a full TD favorite against Florida State

The Michigan Wolverines will be looking to turn around a weak trend in bowl games when they face the Florida State Seminoles in the Orange Bowl this week.

The Michigan Wolverines are 3-7 straight up and 4-5-1 against the spread in their last 10 postseason games. The Wolverines can win back-to-back bowl games for the first time since 2001 with a win in the Orange Bowl over the Florida State Seminoles.

Michigan is a 7-point favorite in Miami at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In their last four games coming off an ATS win, the Wolverines are 0-4 ATS.

A stunning 14-13 loss in Iowa as a 24-point favorite snapped Michigan’s 10-0 SU and 6-4 ATS streak, creating a must-win scenario for the Wolverines in their final game of the season against the Ohio State Buckeyes. Michigan’s sterling defense appeared to be on its way to leading the Wolverines to an upset up 17-7 in the third quarter, but the game eventually went to overtime where Ohio State came out on top 30-27.

The Wolverines fell to 1-2 SU and ATS over their last three games, and went from College Football Playoff favorite to outside of the bracket in the process.

Over the team’s last 14 games as a favorite of a touchdown or less, Michigan is 9-5 SU and 7-6-1 ATS per the OddsShark College Football Database.

Betting Line / Total: Michigan -7 / 52 Points

Trend: The total has gone over in 16 of Michigan’s last 20 games.

Trend: Florida State is 4-0 ATS in its last four games after a win.

While Michigan lost some of its momentum down the stretch, Florida State was playing its best football at the end of the season.

The Seminoles went 6-1 SU and 4-2 ATS, pushing Clemson to the brink in a 37-34 loss as a 4-point underdog before winning all four of their games in the month of November. Florida State allowed only 16.6 points per game over its final six games including a 3-0 SU and ATS run in its final three games.

Friday’s total is set at 52 points. The OVER is 16-4 in Michigan’s last 20 games.

Michigan finished the regular season ranked second in scoring defense with 12.5 points allowed per game and 11th in scoring offense with 41 points per game. The Wolverines are a deserved favorite after being one of the best teams in the nation all season long, but they can’t afford a letdown game after falling short of a playoff spot facing a capable and dangerous Florida State side in the Orange Bowl.
