Penn State fell into a quick 14-0 hole in Saturday’s Big Ten Championship against Wisconsin, but the Nittany Lions don’t, apparently, feel like going quietly.
This great TD catch by Penn State in the Big Ten Championship has Gus Johnson hollering
That’s a great catch, and the call makes it better.

Nittany Lions QB Trace McSorley threw up a deep ball for his big tight end, Mike Gesicki, and Gesicki made a catch that a) was really important, and b) got FOX play-by-play man Gus Johnson really, really excited.
ON MY GOD MIKE GESICKI. pic.twitter.com/EOAOGbUZ8F

That went in the books as a 33-yard touchdown, chopping Wisconsin’s lead in half, to 14-7. And you’ve really got to listen to Johnson’s call, because that makes the play significantly better. (Not that it wasn’t, on its own, an extremely good play.)
In a crowded room? Don’t feel like playing that video with the volume on? Here is your transcript of Johnson’s call, with me doing my best to relate Johnson’s tone into text:
“McSorley, fires down the field, the deep ball, and it is ... OH, CAUGHT! Gesicki goes up high! Woo! Thirty-three-yard touchdown, and the Nittany Lions are on the board! Mike Gesicki!”
Gus Johnson is good at this. So is Gesicki, who had 44 catches for 610 yards and three scores entering the night. I’ll bet none of those got as enjoyable a call as this one did.
McSorley celebrated in style, which is cool.
Yup, that’s a home run ball.
