UNC QB Mitch Trubisky fumbled by running into a ref and is now Browns material

If nothing else, that’s good defense.

Mitch Trubisky has been rocketing up draft boards lately as a talented draft-eligible quarterback, but at the next level he’ll have to learn a thing or two about ball security.

When QBs take matters into their own hands to scramble, they’ve got to account for all the defenders on the field, whether they’re wearing referee stripes or not.

During draft season, NFL personnel people are going to diagnose everything about a player, and this lack of field awareness may be quite the detriment when teams break down the film. If you can’t trust Trubisky to roll out of the pocket and limit turnovers against all competitions, when can you trust him?

Either way, he should fit in well with the Browns.

As far as referees go, this zebra named Tom Quick matches up with the guy who tackled South Carolina QB Stephen Garcia as a talented defensive prospect in his own right.

Quick played his college football at Kansas back in the 1980s. Perhaps his roots at a basketball school sewed the seeds for Carolina disdain.
